Infertility Surgeries

Gaudium IVF & Gynae Solutions Centre offers the latest cutting-edge infertility treatment solutions for both male and female patients. Surgical treatment of infertility is generally undertaken when no other treatment has worked or when the condition causing infertility has advanced to a level that warrants surgery.

If a surgical procedure is required, your fertility specialist discusses with you why it is important as an effective solution for your condition, so that you can make an informed treatment decision.

Infertility Surgeries for Women

Fallopian Tube Procedures

Fallopian tube surgeries are undertaken to remove tubal blockage, to remove a damaged portion of the fallopian tube, or to reverse tubal ligation (permanent contraception surgery).

This may be done either through open abdominal surgery or through Laparoscopy.Treatment of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

PCOS is a hormonal disorder which can be treated with medication. However, in some patients surgical removal of ovarian cysts may be necessary to restore their infertility.

Surgery to remove endometriosis

In women with high-grade endometriosis, endometrial implants and scar tissue are removed through laser surgery.

Laparoscopic Myomectomy (Removal of fibroids)

Surgical removal of fibroids is undertaken to remove uterine fibroids that are interfering with pregnancy.

Surgery for Ectopic Pregnancy

A pregnancy is said to be ectopic when it is located in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus. Timely surgical removal of the pregnancy is vital to avoid the fallopian tube from rupturing. This is done through laparoscopy.

Infertility Surgeries for Men

Surgical sperm retrieval

If sufficient number of motile sperms is not available through ejaculation for use in an IVF/ICSI cycle, sperm can be surgically collected from the testicles or the epididymis through one of the following minimally-invasive procedures:

PESA (Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration): a fine needle is inserted into the epididymis to extract sperm.

TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration): similar to PESA where a needle is used to draw out seminal fluid from the testicles.

TESE (Testicular sperm extraction): A small amount of tissue is extracted through a tiny incision in the testes.

Microsurgical Varicocelectomy (Varicocele repair surgery)

Varicocelectomy is a minimally-invasive surgery to repair swollen veins (varicoceles) in the scrotum, the pouch of skin that holds the testicles in place. Varicocele repair surgery is indicated in men facing problems with sperm production or transport of sperm, in men with testicular dystrophy (shrinking of the testicles), or for non-fertility patients who seek relief from the pain and discomfort caused by the condition.

Microsurgical Vasoepididymostomy (Vasectomy reversal)

Men who have previously had a vasectomy (male sterilization) but wish to father a child can have the procedure reversed through vasectomy reversal surgery. Microsurgical Vasoepididymostomy, also known as epididymovasostomy, is a complex procedure and should only be performed by an experienced surgeon.
